Sneaker bottoms or “outsoles” are made of vulcanized rubber very similar to car tires. Shoe outsole rubber is made from a mixture of natural and synthetic rubbers. Once the rubber compound is mixed it can be formed in to parts and them moulded with heat and pressure.
