A blessing for shoemakers of the world
The patron saints of shoemakers: Crispin and Crispinian
Hello friends, I hate to be writing this post, but in this time of crisis, I think it’s appropriate. Our Sneakerfactory.net family is sending our hope, love, and blessings to all the shoemakers of the world. In my shoemaking career, I have been so lucky to work with so many great people. Now at this time, when literally our entire global fraternity of shoemakers is in danger, we must all work together, pray together, and support each other.
I want to share with you a sample of the love and compassion our fellow shoemakers have. I make my home just outside of San Diego, California, in the USA. We are “lucky” for now, while we are sheltering in our home, only 30 souls of our 185,000 person city are known to be suffering.
Just a few weeks ago, I was sending hopes and prayers to my friends in China, thinking we Americans would be safe from this disease. Now, I find myself trapped at home, thinking about how I can help. I’m getting many caring and concerned messages from friends in China. But what can I do?
Today I opened what should have been a box of sample shoes and found instead 950 face masks from my friends in China! God bless the shoemakers in China! While some may seek to find enemies, lay blame, and avoid responsibility, others are working together to save the world.
Do something today!
What am I doing? I’m sending this note to you. I’m calling an old shoemaking friend. I’m hijacking my company’s 3D printer to make face shields for my local hospital. So, switch off your Netflix cue and get to work Shoemakers! Bless you all!
