Force Lasted Shoe

The force lasted shoe is made with a Stobel bottom. The shoe upper is a loose sock, the shoe last is “forced” into the upper stretching it into shape. The Upper may be steamed to ease the force lasting operation. This operation is usually done by hand with a large shoehorn. Once the last in inside the upper a mechanical heel lasting machine is often used to make sure the upper is fully seated.  Afterward, a cooling operation is then used to shrink the upper tight to the last.
